· Drilling and Blasting
We can assist you in selecting drills and explosives. We will help you design production and wall control blasts, and estimate the fragmentation to be expected from different designs. Blast monitoring often provides important information for improving blasting effectiveness and reducing costs. We have high speed video/cameras, laser profilers, VOD monitor, seismographs and fragmentation analysis equipment for blast monitoring and analysis. C & W is a member of the Advanced Optimization Group, a team of industry specialist dedicated to assisting mines achieve drill to mill optimization of mining operations.
· Slope Stability
Slope stability is a very important part of open pit design and operation, and has an important effect on safety and costs. We specialize in open pit and surface coal mine pit wall and dump stability. We provide practical solutions and techniques that can be implemented within the realities of on-going mining operations.
· Training
Calder & Workman, Inc. presents training courses in Drilling and Blasting, and Dragline Mining. Courses in Slope Stability and Shovel/Truck mining are also available.
· Mine Design and Targetless Laser Surveying
In cooperation with our associates, we can help by performing contract mine design and planning services for open pit mines and quarries. We provide accurate information quickly. Our laser surveying service provides you fast, affordable mapping for quarries and mines. With the Quarryman® Laser system we can do much more including face profiling for blasting, drill and blast quantities and accurate stockpile measurements.
· Hydrology, Geology and Environmental
We can assist you with a variety of tasks including Surface and Groundwater reporting, NPDES reporting, Drilling Project Management, Coal coring and sampling, Hydrology, geology and climate sections of permit applications, Hydrological assessments, and Bond release studies. We have reporting routines using Visual Basic and Access for data and trend reporting for State Agencies.
